Vision
NAPSLO is the premier association representing the wholesale insurance distribution system and the surplus lines industry.
Mission
NAPSLO is an association of insurance brokers, agents, and underwriters who are committed to the wholesale distribution system and the surplus lines industry. The association provides networking, regulatory, legislative and educational activities on behalf of its members.
Goals
1. Improve the efficiency and create uniformity of the regulation of business transacted as surplus lines.
1.1 - Educate our membership regarding the vital regulatory issues faced by the surplus lines industry.
1.2 - Develop a proactive legislative agenda addressing vital surplus lines regulatory issues.
1.3 - Implement an education program addressing issues vital to the surplus lines industry.
1.4 - Implement an advocacy program addressing issues vital to the surplus lines industry.
1.5 - Identify NAPSLO agendas we wish to advance by this means and implement.
2. Enhance the understanding and competence of our industry segment.
2.1 - Develop broadened interest in our industry segment by the academic community.
2.2 - Promote the ASLI designation through the insurance industry.
2.3 - Expand the NAPSLO intern program.
2.4 - Enhance the curriculum and performance of the advanced school.
2.5 - Maintain the performance of the basic school.
2.6 - Evaluate the need for an expanded role for the education coordinator.
3. Facilitate the implementation of technology solutions for our industry segment.
3.1 - Increase awareness among NAPSLO members of the importance of the efficiency of automation, and the uses of automation within the distribution system.
3.2 - Establish strategic alliances with other industry groups.
4. Enhance communication to our members on critical issues affecting the wholesale distribution system and/or the surplus lines industry.
4.1 - Inform members on at least a quarterly basis of the critical regulatory and legislative issues affecting the industry.
5. Improve networking between NAPSLO and other industry groups.
5.1 - Identify three or more industry groups and explore networking opportunities in the areas of education, lobbying, and others.
6: Ensure that NAPSLO operates in an efficient and effective manner.
6.1 - Institutionalize the strategic planning process, which plans on a three-year horizon and refreshes that horizon on an annual basis.
6.2 - Link NAPSLO operations and budget to the strategic plan.
6.3 - Examine and adapt the organizational structure of NAPSLO to achieve implementation of the strategic plan. 6.4 - Conduct leadership orientation programs which will assure that new and continuing NAPSLO leaders understand the Association's planning, budgeting, and operations.
6.5 - Assure that financial resources are available to implement the strategic plan.
