Professionals completing the Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) program over the past two years were recognized at the NAPSLO Annual Convention in Boston by the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation.

The top four graduates in the 2002 class were Daniel G. Adorno, CPCU, ASLI, underwriter, The American Equity Underwriters, Inc.; Linda A. Berryman, CPCU, ASLI, underwriter, General Star Management Company; Matthew B. Dunaway, ASLI, underwriter, Burns & Wilcox, Ltd.; and Mark R. Pond, ASLI, underwriting specialist, Scottsdale Insurance Company.

Adorno, Berryman and Pond received a cash award of $250 for Academic Excellence; Dunaway, the Distinguished Graduate, received $500.

The Insurance Institute of America (IIA) developed the ASLI program for surplus lines professionals with support from NAPSLO and the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation, which sponsor and fund the academic awards.

The ASLI program consists of four courses and national examinations. The courses include coverage of the purpose, evolution, regulation, and distribution of surplus lines insurance. Additional information about the program is available on the IIA website at www.aicpcu.org.
