Successful 2007 NAPSLO Convention in New Orleans - October 3-6

More than 3,200 attended the 2007 NAPSLO Annual Convention (The Big Easy Rising: Rebirth, Rebuild and Renew) which took place October 3-6 at the New Orleans Marriott and the Sheraton New Orleans. The 2008 Annual Convention is scheduled for Sept. 10-13 in San Diego, CA.

Convention Programs
The convention began with the Opening Reception on Wednesday evening, October 3. Programs started on Thursday, October 4 with a special panel discussion at 10:00 a.m. on What's Ahead for the E&S Wholesaler? featuring representatives of top broker and carriers.   

Company panelists were: Dennis Crosby, ACE Westchester Specialty; David Leonard, RSUI Group; Tom Mulligan, Western World Insurance Group; and Dale Pilkington, Colony Insurance Co. Broker panelists will be Neal Abernathy, Swett & Crawford; Steve DeCarlo,  AmWINS Group, Inc.; Ron Gabor, Gabor Insurance Services, Inc.; and Marshall Kath, Colemont Brokerage Group.

Programs continued Friday morning with Mary Matalin and James Carville presenting the annual Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation Lecture.

Annual Convention Off-Site function date changes
NAPSLO is asking members to change in the day off-site functions will take place at the convention. On- and Off-Site hospitality functions and receptions will be allowed on Friday in 2007. On Thursday, all functions and meetings scheduled during the day and in the evening are requested to be held On-Site at the convention hotels. 

This is a change from previous years in which On- and Off-Site hospitality functions and receptions were allowed on Thursday and only On-site functions were allowed Friday.

Rebuilding New Orleans
NAPSLO teamed up with Habitat for Humanity allowing members to take part in the rebuilding of New Orleans either through volunteering on Oct 6, 2007 on a residential renovation project, or by contributing funds to the rebuilding effort.
