NAPSLO 2008 Workshop
One of the bigger stories over the past few years has been the acquisition of several brokers by private equity firms, leaving many in the industry wondering what the long-term impact will be.
At the 2008 NAPSLO Mid-Year Educational Workshop, the issue of the impact of private equity on the insurance industry, and specialty lines in particular will be discussed, including what private equity firms are looking for, how they operate and what the impact on the business will be.
With no incumbent running for the White House and a number of Representative and Senators retiring in 2008 will there be more upheavals in Washington? To review the prospects, Jordan Lieberman, Publisher of Campaigns & Elections magazine, will review the various races and the impact on members associated with the industry.
The Mid-Year Workshop is set for February 20-23 at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Scottsdale. The Workshop starts on Thursday night with the Opening Reception. Programs begin Friday with the a look at private equity on the specialty lines insurance industry. The upcoming 2008 elections program will be highlighted on Saturday.
NAPSLO is instituting online registration for the Mid-Year Workshop and members can either register online or download registration material and submit to NAPSLO as past years.
Fairmont Scottsdale Princess
NAPSLO returns to the Phoenix area in 2008 with a stop at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort. The AAA Five-Diamond Fairmont Scottsdale Princess reflects the dynamic environment that surrounds it --- where sun-washed stone and bright green cottonwoods rise up to meet the pale-blue sky and majestic purple mountains.
Attendees will have a number of activity options, including a golf outing (sponsored by the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation), a desert river float, an hors doeuvres and wine pairing demonstration, a world class spa, and of course, the interesting and beautiful natural surroundings of the area.
