Registration Nears 3,000 for New Orleans Meeting
Registration for the 2007 NAPSLO Annual Convention in New Orleans, October 3-6, is approaching 3,000 with two months to go. 

The convention will take place at the New Orleans Marriott and the Sheraton New Orleans, with hotel rooms also at the JW Marriott and Astor Crowne Plaza. The Opening Reception will take place at the Sheraton and the sessions and Brokers' Lounge will be at the Marriott.

Badge Policy for Meeting Space
Meeting space at the Convention at both headquarter hotels will be located in a secured area. Attendees must wear their NAPSLO 2007 Annual Convention Badge to pass through security in order to get to the meeting room areas. Any  individual not registered for the 2007 convention but utilizing meeting facilities will be charged a full registration fee.

Members have requested NAPSLO require all those participating in on-site convention functions be registered so it is necessary to be registered and have a convention badge in order to gain access to private meeting rooms at the convention hotels.  

Advanced School Registration Materials Available
Registration materials for the Advanced School,  October 27-30 at the Eric Newman Educational Center in St. Louis, is being mailed to NAPSLO and will be available to download from the NAPSLO web site as of August 8.

The Advanced School will include sessions on claims, finance, recognizing scams, reinsurance & alternative risk, current legislative issues, brokering, understanding exposures, emerging trends and specialty marketplace responses to E-business.

The cost for the school is $1,250, and includes room, board and course materials. The registration deadline is September 21. 

People with more than five years experience in the surplus lines industry are encouraged to apply.  The school offers a comprehensive look at surplus lines and provides the opportunity to meet with others in the industry.  Completion of the NAPSLO E&S School is not a prerequisite.

Board Nominations, Volunteer Requests Deadlines Approaching
Members interested in serving on a NAPSLO committee should notify the NAPSLO office by August 24 to volunteer. Members can e-mail the committee volunteer request to info@napslo.org, or write or fax NAPSLO.   In the correspondence provide background information and any areas of interest.  (If e-mailing information, please include firm name and address information.)

Volunteers should indicate availability to attend NAPSLO’s 2007 Committee Day, scheduled for November 12-13 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport.

Officer and director candidate nominations are still being accepted by the NAPSLO Nominating Committee to assist in developing the slate of officers and directors to be voted on at the Annual Business Meeting in New Orleans.

NAPSLO members must submit the names for consideration for director or officer nominees no later than August 21 but members are encouraged to submit names as soon as possible. Suggested candidate names may be submitted to the committee by e-mail at nominations@napslo.org; by postal mail to the NAPSLO office; or directly to members of the committee.
