Mid-Year E-News - January 31. 2007

Work/Life Balance Topic of Mid-Year program
Balancing work and life issues will be a featured topic at the NAPSLO Mid-Year Workshop with Dr. Will Miller, a professor at Purdue University, who will discuss the issue during a program on Friday, March 2, from 9:00-10:30 a.m.

Dr. Miller, best known to many television viewers as the person behind the "Why We Watch" series on Nick-at-Nite during the 1990s, is one of the country’s leading authorities on stress reduction and life balance.  He also has written several books, including: Refrigerator Rights; The Seven Temptations of American Popular Culture; Why We Watch: Killing the Gilligan Within, and has made contributions to many publications and news programs including Entertainment Weekly and Court TV 

He has a reputation as an extraordinary keynote speaker and is a recognized expert in the area of interpersonal relationships, organizational health and workplace culture.  

A therapist and professor at Purdue University, he lectures at the schools of Organizational Leadership, Management and Mass Communication on the social environment of the workplace and the impact on productivity. The first 100 attendees at the program will receive a copy of Dr. Miller's book, Refrigerator Rights.

Current Perspective on Reinsurance
Current perspectives and emerging issues in reinsurance as seen by reinsurance brokers and reinsurers will be featured in the Current Perspectives on Reinsurance program on Saturday morning, March 3 from 9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Panelists include Dave Leonard, RSUI Group Inc.; Paul Goodwin, Munich Reinsurance America; and Tom Leonhardt, Towers Perrin Reinsurance.

Reinsurance can provide an insight into the future of the market and the members of the panel will discuss current issues, trends, and a look at the future of reinsurance and how it could impact the surplus lines industry.

Following the program there will be a drawing for a weekend for two gift certificate to Auberge du Soleil, one of Northern California’s most revered resort and dining establishments.

Scheduling Meetings at the Mid-Year
The Mid-Year Workshop is designed to be educational and informative. NAPSLO asks that you not schedule appointments during the programs so that everyone can support and benefit from the scheduled events.

Grand Casino Nightcap Party
The NAPSLO Mid-Year Workshop's Closing Reception will be a Grand Casino Nightcap Party, scheduled for Saturday, March 3, from 9:00 - 11:30 p.m. 

This late-night event will give attendees a chance to make dinner reservations and return for a nightcap at the Grand Casino event. Grand Casino attendees also will have a chance to win a weekend for two at Pebble Beach, including golf.
