FIRST DRAFT OF PLMA COMPLETED
The NAIC has approved a first draft of a proposed Producer Licensing Model Act and a number of state legislatures may bring it up for consideration during their upcoming legislative sessions.

As approved, the act excludes licensed insurance producer who act only as an intermediary between an insurer and the customer’s producer, "for example a managing general agent, a sales manager, or wholesale broker; or a reinsurance intermediary."

While the act was approved during a conference call at the end of December, the NAIC was asked to revisit several items and report back by the next NAIC meeting in March in Salt Lake City. A copy of the draft is available in the Legislation/Regulation section NAPSLO Website at www.napslo.org.
