Remember to register for the Mid-Year Educational Workshop!
Members can still register for the workshop online at the Mid-Year page of the Meetings section of the NAPSLO web site at www.napslo.org. Member ID and password are required to access the registration page. After completing the registration process for the Mid-Year Workshop members can reserve a hotel room by clicking the link to the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess web site. Rooms are limited to one per registered attendee. Rooms in the NAPSLO block reserved by non-registered attendees will be cancelled without notice, no exceptions. Hotel rooms at the Fairmont Princess for arrivals on February 19 & 20 are now sold out. There are still rooms on a space available basis February 21-23. Rooms are no longer available in the block after January 18. Mid-Year activities begin Thursday, Feburary 21 with the Opening Reception. Plan to stay Saturday evening for the popular Casino Night with a Western twist. The grand prize is a $2500 gift card for As of January 4, delegate registration fees are $750 and spouse registration fees are $475. The registration deadline is February 1 and anyone registering after this date must do so on-site at the hotel. Hotel fees are non-refundable after January 5. Program information is listed below: Private Equity: Impact on the Insurance Industry The insurance sector has seen an explosion in growth from private equity investors as investors see the disruptions in the marketplace opportunities to make a profit. Also, as investors gain more insurance industry experience, they've grown more comfortable with what often is seen as a complex industry. Because private equity favors investments in areas where a market has been displaced, the property/casualty market has been a popular investment choice in recent years. To examine this issue, a panel of private equity fund experts will provide an overview of private equity on the insurance industry, and specialty lines in particular. The panel will look at what are private equity investors are looking for; how they operate; and the impact on the business and the industry. A Pollster's Odds: Betting on the 2008 Election With no incumbent running for the White House and a number of Representative and Senators retiring in 2008, will there be more upheavals in Washington? To review the prospects, Jordan Lieberman, Publisher of Campaigns & Elections magazine, will review the various races and the impact on members associated with the industry. Mr. Lieberman oversees the print magazine and its several web properties and manages the overall business of the magazine's parent company, Political World Communications, LLC. During his tenure, the magazine and its suite of products have grown faster than any time in its 27-year history. Prior to serving as Publisher, Lieberman consulted on numerous campaigns and advocacy programs in the United States and abroad.
