2004 ANNUAL CONVENTION REGISTRATION UNDERWAY
Registration materials for the 2004 NAPSLO Annual Convention, set for September 19-22 at the Orlando World Center Marriott, have been sent to members and are also available for download from the NAPSLO web site at http://www.napslo.org/content/Meetings/AnnualConvention/Brochure/Orlando.htm
The convention starts on Sunday, September 19 with the Opening Reception and programs are set for Tuesday, September 21 and Wednesday, September 22. Monday will be left open for members to meet with their markets. Sally Ride, Ph.D., the first American woman in space, will speak to attendees on Wednesday. In addition, two panels are scheduled: Valuations, Mergers & Acquisitions; and Building Relationships Among the Retailer, Wholesaler & Company. (Florida Gov. Jeb Bush had been invited to speak at the meeting but has informed NAPSLO he is unable to attend.)
NAPSLO MEMBER LOCATOR ADDS NEW FEATURE
NAPSLO's new member locator - http://members.napslo.org - now offers the ability to search our Associate member category by type of firm (i.e. software vendors, law firm) in addition to searching by name or location. Associate member firms were recently contacted regarding their classification and any changes should be sent to Mike Ardis.
INSURANCE PROSPECTS
Members of the public occasionally contact NAPSLO requesting help in securing insurance. The Association refers inquiries to NAPSLO member brokers in the callers' area so they can be referred to a retail agent. Consumers also are now being encouraged to post a notice in the Discussion Center of the NAPSLO web site http://www.napslo.org/forumframe.cfm in the INSURANCE area. NAPSLO members may want check the area in the future to see if they can assist the consumers.
NAPSLO NOTES PASSING OF FORMER INTERN
Former NAPSLO intern Richard Foster Jordan, 35, of Louisville passed away on April 17, 2004. Richard worked as a medical malpractice broker with Market Finders Insurance Corporation for 13 years after starting his career there as a NAPSLO intern in 1990.
Greg Jordan, his brother, and Carol Jordan, his mother, established a trust fund in his memory for his children, Jacob (9), Lelia (6), and Conor (5). Contributions may be made to the "Children of Richard F. Jordan," c/o Greg Jordan, 6143 Cambridge Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45230.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 19 at the Jekyll Island Club Hotel, Jekyll Island, Georgia.
