Committee Day – November 12-13, 2007

NAPSLO will notify committee volunteers shortly regarding their selection to serve on a committee. Notifications will also include information about Committee Day registration, scheduled for November 12-13 at one of the Hyatt Hotels at the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. Registation will be handled online.

NAPSLO has nine committees and approximately 100 volunteer committee members. Each year a number committee members leave committee service, making room for new volunteers to join.

Current NAPSLO committees are as follows: Budget, Finance, Audit & Investment; Communications & Technology; Convention; Education; International; Internship; Legislative; Membership & Ethics; and Mid-Year Educational Workshop. 

In addition, NAPSLO is adding a new committee whose members will educate students from their local colleges and universities, or alma mater, about surplus lines insurance and our industry. Initial committee members will name the committee and also create a Mission Statement for the committee.

Annual Convention Update

The 2007 Annual Convention, scheduled for Oct 3-6 in New Orleans is fast approaching. All hotels have sold out and the hotel cut off dates have passed. There are currently more than 3200 registrants.  The registration deadline was Sept. 14 and any new registrations will need to be completed on site in New Orleans. Registration dates and times are listed below.

Wednesday, Oct. 3 – 8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m

Thursday, Oct. 4 – 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Friday, Oct. 5 – 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

All convention meeting space will be located in secured areas and a badge is required for admittance to all meeting rooms. Attendees must wear their badge to pass through security and access meeting rooms.  Any individual not registered for the convention and utilizing meeting room facilities will be charged a full convention registration fee. 

The Convention will begin with an opening reception Wednesday. James J. Donelon, Louisiana Commissioner of Insurance welcomes attendees Thursday morning at 10 a.m. His speech will be followed by Changing Markets, Changing Laws: What's Ahead for the E&S Wholesaler? Friday opens with award presentations and an address by President Bill Newton. Political consultants James Carville and Mary Matalin will present the annual Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation lecture. In addition, ASLI conferees and NAPSLO interns will be recognized and the Annual Business Meeting will conclude Friday's programs. 

More than 110 people have signed up for the volunteer opportunity with Habitat for Humanity, giving those a chance to help rebuild New Orleans on Saturday. 

PDF Electronic Forms Now Available

NAPSLO now features interactive electronic PDF applications and forms that can be completed onscreen and e-mailed conveniently to NAPSLO, versus printing, handwriting and mailing via postal mail. 

All applications in the Member and Labels & E-mail Address section of NAPSLO's Web site now feature the interactive PDF Smart Forms.  

Having the capability to electronically fill out a form is fast and simple. The document contains data fields where text can be directly entered and can also include radio boxes and checkboxes for multiple choice questions. Using these Smart Forms also ensures the information entered will be legible and allows the user the ability to keep backup copies electronically.
