Andy Frazier receives NAPSLO Industry Award, and others recognized during 2004 NAPSLO Convention

October 15, 2004 -Andrew S. Frazier, CPCU, Western World Insurance Group, was awarded the Charles A.  McAlear/NAPSLO Industry Award during the awards ceremonies at the 2004 Annual Convention held September 19-22 in Orlando. More than 2,800 people attended the convention, which recognized NAPSLO’s 30^th Anniversary.

The Industry Award was established in the 1980s to honor those who have made significant contributions to the surplus lines industry. The award recognized Frazier for his work as a Co-Chair of the Legislative Committee and efforts to promote legislation and regulations that benefit the Excess and Surplus industry. 

Mr. Frazier has also served as an instructor at NAPSLO’s E&S and Advanced schools; a member of NAPSLO’s Investment Sub-committee; Treasurer of the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation, where he also worked with the A.M. Best Company to produce the Annual Review of the Excess & Surplus Lines Industry; and on the Board of Governors of the NAII, which is now called the PCI.

NAPSLO President’s Award
The President’s Award was presented to NAPSLO Internship Co-Chairs, Timothy P. Makowski, Benchmark Managemant Group, and R. Max Williamson, CPCU, Scottsdale Insurance Co. The award recognized their work overseeing the Internship Committee, (Makowski 2003 – present, Williamson 1997-2004). Since its inception in 1981, nearly 200 Interns have completed the Internship program and more than 80% are employed within the insurance industry.  The award, presented by President Jim Griffith, recognizes committee chairs for outstanding service.   

NAPSLO Faculty Recognition Awards
NAPSLO E&S School and Advanced School faculty members who taught for more than five years were recognized for their contribution to the schools. The awards were given to mark the 10^th Anniversary of the Advanced School and the 15^th Anniversary of the E&S School. 

Recognized for teaching at the E&S School were: Richard M. Bouhan, NAPSLO; John M. DiBiasi, CPCU,  Nautilus Insurance Group; Andrew S. Frazier, CPCU, Western World Insurance Group; Derek Hughes, CPCU, Western World Insurance Group; Jill K. Jinks, CPCU, ASLI, The Insurance House, Inc.; John K. Latham, Markel Re; and Marcus Payne, NAPSLO Education Coordinator.

Recognized for teaching at the Advanced School were: Richard Bouhan, NAPSLO; Kevin Crombie, International E&S; Randall D. Jones, Maxum Indemnity Co.; Marshall P. Kath, Heath Holdings USA, Inc.; and Mary K. Saunders, CPCU, Evanston Insurance Co.
