Mid-Year Workshop, set for February 17-19 in California to cover employment issues
The 2005 NAPSLO Mid-Year Educational Workshop is scheduled for February 17-19 at the Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells, California.
Workshop programs include a presentation on hiring and developing top performers, how to better manage employees and avoiding employee claims, according to Mid-Year Committee Chair Bill Newton.
In addition, the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation has planned a golf outing on Friday, February 18.
Registration materials for the Mid-Year Workshop will be sent to member firms in November and will also be available to download from the NAPSLO web site.
Delegates are urged to register early as registration for Mid-Year Workshops has been increasing in recent years. Approximately 600 attended the 2004 Workshop.
Friday’s programs will feature a presentation by Patrick Sweeney and Herb Greenberg of Caliper on How To Hire & Develop Your Next Top Performer.
Caliper is an international firm who works with firms on hiring, developing, team building and organizational concerns.
On Saturday, Emily Huling, president of Selling Strategies, Inc., will help managers examine their own leadership style and learn strategies to motivate, effectively delegate and manage challenging associates.
In addition, Paul J. Siegel, an employment law and litigation partner of Jackson Lewis LLP, who has spoken to previous NAPSLO meetings, will address what firms need to do to avoid claims and how to develop better defenses to potential claims
