159 students attend E&S School
Two sessions of the NAPSLO E&S School in St. Louis, June 9-12th and June 12-15th attracted 159 students. Due to high demand in past years, the school was expanded to include two sessions this year. The school was expanded to 80 students per session.
Curriculum for both sessions was the same. Programs offered included Distribution System, Market Dynamics, MGAs & Brokers, Risk Takers, segments on regulation and financial accounting, and a presentation on Lloyd's of London.In addition, the Schools opened with a Perspectives From The Top presentation.
Thomas M. Kuzma, ARM, President and CEO of Nautilus Ins. Group, opened Session I on June 9. J. Neal Abernathy, President & CEO of Swett & Crawford, opened Session II on June 12. Instructors at the E&S Schools were Richard Bouhan and Steven Stephan, J.D., CPCU, ASLI, NAPSLO; James S. Carey, CPCU, Admiral Insurance Company; John M. DiBiasi, CPCU, XL Excess & Surplus Lines; Jill K. Jinks, CPCU, ASLI, The Insurance House, Inc.; Marshall P. Kath, Colemont Brokerage Group, Inc.; Dave Leonard, CPCU, ARM, ARE, AIAF, RSUI Group, Inc.; and Marcus Payne, NAPSLO.
The Executive Panels talked about their careers and responded to questions. Session I Executive Panel members were: Karen Bartak, CPCU, ASLI, Aon Risk Services; Gregory Crouse, Crouse & Associates Ins. Brokers; David P. Hall, Northland Insurance; and Kevin Morreale, American Modern Ins. Group. Session II panel members were: Nancy Davies, CPCU, RPLU, RSUI Group, Inc.; Robert T. Sargent, CPCU, RPLU, ARM, Tennant Risk Services; David B. Stevoff, Colemont Corporation; and Jay Lughes, CPCU, ASLI, ARM, Maxum Specialty Ins. Group.
Education Committee Co-Chairs Gil Hine, McClelland & Hine, Inc., and Randall Jones, Maxum Indemnity Co., oversaw the schools. Marcus Payne is NAPSLO's Education Coordinator. The E&S School is open to members with less than five years industry experience. The Advanced School is available to members with more than five years experience and is held in the fall.
