NAPSLO introduces a number of career initiatives
As part of efforts to encourage students and young professionals to consider the surplus lines industry as a career choice, the Communications & Technology Committee has been working on several projects to connect prospective employees with NAPSLO members.
Among the recent projects the committee has completed are:
- Launching a "student-careers" section on the website (careers.napslo.org) featuring career path information, background on the industry, and success stories profiling successful, young NAPSLO members.
- Establishing a Job Locator (jobs.napslo.org) to allow members to link their web sites to the NAPSLO website to help connect interested students with members.
- Producing an online video highlighting benefits of a career in Surplus Lines. The video, produced in partnership with Insurance Journal, can be accessed at careers.napslo.org and features members discussing surplus lines career opportunities. The video is also posted on YouTube.com and will be distributed to interested college career centers. Members can also utilize the video to give prospective employees a look at the industry.
- Working with college career centers and media in order to encourage students to consider the surplus lines industry and to direct students to NAPSLO members interested in hiring students.
NAPSLO members who would like to list your firm on the Job locator may notify NAPSLO at careers@napslo.org. Members should be prepared to field inquiries from interested students.
Members who haven't listed your firm on the Job locator and would like to, may e-mail careers@napslo.org.
The Job Locator lists firm name, contact name, phone number, and website address. NAPSLO members can either list the firm's contact information from the membership directory or list a human resources contact, phone number and website address.
