Annual meeting to be held in New Orleans in October
NAPSLO's 2007 Annual Convention is scheduled for October 3-6 in New Orleans, and registration materials will be mailed to members in June.
The convention theme, Big Easy Rising: Rebirth, Rebuild, Renew, speaks of the commitment and resolve of the citizens of New Orleans.
"The people of New Orleans have made great strides in bringing tourism back to the city," said Mary Ellen Rozzell, NAPSLO Convention Chair. "I know we can count on our members to show support not only to NAPSLO, but also to the people of New Orleans."
The Opening Reception starts off the meeting on Wednesday evening. Programs will take place on Thursday and Friday morning. In addition to the usual set-up, NAPSLO will be offering reserved tables in the Broker's Lounge areas for an additional fee.
Thursday's program features a panel discussion on the importance of surplus lines in the insurance industry and how current changes taking place will positively affect the industry's future.
Mary Matalin and James Carville will present the annual Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation Lecture on Friday. Rivals in 1992, Matalin, working for President George H.W. Bush, and Carville, working on Bill Clinton's presidential campaign, made headlines when they crossed party lines and married in 1993.
Also scheduled for Friday will be awards ceremonies and the recognition of Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) designees.
On Saturday morning, members will be offered an opportunity to volunteer or participate financially in a residential renovation project sponsored by Habitat For Humanity.
