Volunteers sought to speak at school, job portal now open
The Career Awareness Committee is asking NAPSLO members to assist their efforts to bring qualified people into the surplus lines industry by becoming a volunteer and speaking at local schools regarding the industry as a potential career choice, whether on the insurance side or the support side.
Members can volunteer by going to volunteer.napslo.org and filling out the form, which asks for information on the areas the volunteer could assist. NAPSLO will provide materials for volunteers speaking at schools and will also work with the volunteers to coordinate visits to the schools.
Job portal opens
Encouraging students to consider the surplus lines industry as a career choice is only part of the challenge of filling positions in the industry. NAPSLO has taken the next step and will be able to help guide candidates to employers with openings with the opening of the Job Portal webpage where members can post jobs and review resumes of job seekers. Candidates can review the openings, posts their resumes, and apply for positions online.
The new site is now open and can be accessed at jobs.napslo.org. Previously, NAPSLO was only able to provide a link to members web sites with employment information. Now members will be able to post jobs at no charge throughout 2008. Later this year the committee will review the site and determine if there will be any fees in the future.
