Annual meeting to be held in San Diego in September; New lecture speaker announced
NAPSLOs 2008 Annual Convention is scheduled for September 10-13 in San Diego, California, and registration materials will be mailed to members in early June.
The convention theme will be Mission San Diego: Navigating Change.
The Opening Reception is on Wednesday evening. Because of a limited number of rooms available on Tuesday, registration and the Brokers Lounge will open at noon on Wednesday.
Programs will be held on Friday and Saturday mornings. In addition to the usual set-up, NAPSLO will be again be offering reserved tables in the Brokers Lounge areas for an additional fee.
Fridays Derek Hughes/Foundation Lecture will feature Glenn Beck. Previously, Maurice Greenberg accepted an invitation to the lecture series, but later notified NAPSLO that he would not be able to attend the convention
Beck, 40, is a fixture on talk radio and CNN. The former Top 40 DJ entered the talk format in 2001 and his show is broadcast on 160 stations nationwide.
Also on Friday, awards ceremonies and the recognition of Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) designees are scheduled.
On Saturday morning, Jordan Lieberman, who spoke at the Mid-Year Workshop, will be joined by Fred Davis who worked on Sen. John McCain campaign and who Lieberman described as a political superstar, to discuss how campaign ads and tactics can be used to hit candidates below the belt and how voters will come to understand entirely new definitions of what it means to be in a tough race.
Organizers are looking into a Saturday morning volunteer program as well that will leave a NAPSLO legacy on San Diego.
