Steve Stephan elected to IEC Board of Directors
August 7, 2009 - Steve Stephan, Director of Government Relations for NAPSLO, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Insurance Education Council. Elections took place during an IEC Board meeting at the National Conference of Insurance Legislators (NCOIL) Summer meeting in July in Philadelphia.
Mr. Stephan was elected to fill the remainder of a term that expires in November 2011. He would then be eligible to serve two three-year terms on the Board, which is comprised of 32 members, including four offices.
Four other people were elected to the Board to fulfill unexpired terms: Deirdre Manna, Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) (November 2011); David Korsh of Blue Cross Blue Shield (November 2010); Dennis LaGanza of Genworth (November 2009); and Mark Feldman of HealthMarkets (November 2009).
The IEC and NCOIL are separate organizations but work together to educate legislators on emerging insurance issues.
Mr. Stephan received his law degree from the University of Missouri Law School in 1987 and his undergraduate degree from Central Missouri State University. He joined NAPSLO in 2006 after working for ERC for 16 years. Before joining ERC he served as law clerk for The U.S. District Court in Kansas and also for a Missouri Supreme Court
