2013 Marcus Payne Advanced School

The Marcus Payne Advanced School provides a comprehensive look at current surplus lines issues and trends, and provides an excellent opportunity to meet and network with others in the industry. Completion of the NAPSLO E&S School is not a prerequisite. Potential students with 5-15 years’ experience are encouraged to apply. Surplus line industry executives serve as instructors, and the courses include a variety of self-directed learning tools such as study groups, case studies, student led presentations, panels and informal networking sessions. Advanced School curriculum places a primary emphasis on hands-on learning.

 

Advanced School Topics

The Broker/Underwriter Relationship - A discussion of the relationship dynamics between the excess and surplus lines company underwriters and the transactional brokers.                       


Avoiding the Sting (CE Credit Approved) - Recognizing scams in the non-admitted market, an overview of Stamping Offices and an update on key surplus lines regulatory issues. 

 

Advanced Marketing - A new course for 2013 designed to discuss the overall relationship continuum from prospecting through growing successful relations between surplus lines brokers and their clients, and carriers and surplus lines brokers.                             

                        
The Claims Experience (CE Credit Approved) - A look at the surplus lines claims process, coverage and liability issues.                             


Conquering Financial Statements (CE Credit Approved) - Reviewing financial documents, accounting and reporting procedures.                              


The Devil's in the Details (CE Credit Approved) - Standards and procedures to reduce errors and omissions exposures.                                                  


Reinsurance & the Specialty Marketplace (CE Credit Approved) - Current issues, trends and the impact of reinsurance on the marketplace.

 

Registration Requirements
The NAPSLO Advanced School is designed for insurance professionals with 5-15 years’ experience in the surplus lines industry. Persons with less than five years surplus lines experience are encouraged to attend the NAPSLO E&S School, offered each summer. 

 

CE Credit
Earn up to 12 hours of credit, depending on course.

 

Hotel Accommodations
Attendees stay at The Parkway Hotel located at 4550 Forest Park Blvd. The Parkway Hotel is located on the campus of Washington University Medical Center


Session Location
The Eric P. Newman Education Center is located within walking distance of the hotel and all sessions are held at the Education Center.


Registration Materials
Registration materials are mailed to NAPSLO and AAMGA members and applicants must work for a NAPSLO or AAMGA member firm.
