CE Credits for NAPSLO Schools
The NAPSLO Education Committee works each year to provide CE Credits to students attending the NAPSLO E&S and Advanced Schools. Since first offering CE credits in late 2008, students have been able to receive up to seven credit hours for attending the E&S or Advanced Schools.
Surplus Lines Regulatory Compliance Course
In 2011, NAPSLO developed its first online learning tool, the Surplus Lines Regulatory Compliance course. The course targets brokers, underwriters, regulators and agents with less than two years of surplus lines compliance job training or experience. The course is easy to use, offers the ability to ask questions online and covers a variety of subject material including: an overview of the surplus lines industry, licensing, record keeping, insurer eligibility, diligent search, tax remittance, policy disclosure and delivery, and independent procurement and industrial exemption. In addition, this
course receives three hours CE credit in most states. The course is updated on an annual basis to assure a timely curriculum. Please download our Regulatory Compliance Course Informational Flyer to receive more information.
For a limited time, NAPSLO subsidizes the costs of the course, which is offered in either a CE or non-CE version. To access the compliance course:
Online CE Credits
The NAPSLO Educational Plan seeks to utilize the rapid advances in communication technology to provide economical, professional and practical online education opportunities to its members.
In 2008 members of NAPSLO's Education Committee researched and selected the online service Success Continuing Education (Success CE), to provide discounted online CE courses to members. Success CE is the current provider of online CE courses for NAPSLO.
Under the program, employees of NAPSLO member firms can access the CE courses through the NAPSLO website and complete the process online. The cost is $34.95 (plus state fees) per person for unlimited courses for a year or $14.95 for individual courses. These costs are separate from any Surplus Lines Regulatory Compliance Course costs. costs

Surplus Lines Fundamentals
The Institutes, in collaboration with NAPSLO, developed a new online course titled Surplus Lines Fundamentals which was announced in May 2012. The course was created based on recommendations from NAPSLO members to produce an "Excess & Surplus Lines Primer" for anyone seeking to understand how the surplus lines market works.
Surplus Lines Fundamentals is an ideal course for training new hires working for surplus lines insurers, wholesale brokers, managing general agents, and program managers. It is also an appropriate course for retail agents and brokers who want to learn how to access the surplus lines market when they encounter a hard-to-place risk. This course also offers surplus lines curriculum for risk management programs.
