Technology plays an important role in members businesses and NAPSLO has increased its efforts over the past few years. This site offers information on recent technology survey of members, links to other association groups, publications and vendors. The Association is working to represent member’s views with other industry groups and provide members information and resources on technology.

Among the NAPSLO’s current technology projects include: working with ACT (the IIABA's technology group) and the AAMGA on the Retail Agent/E&S Working Group to further the electronic exchange of information between retailers and MGA/Wholesalers; teaming with the AAMGA to sponsor the keynote speaker at the annual automation conference; updating the technology survey

Working Group

The E&S Joint Working Group was formed by ACT, AAMGA, and NAPSLO in 2008 to improve the efficiencies for retail agents interacting with managing general agents and wholesale brokers in the E&S market and to promote the electronic exchange of data between the parties.  The working group has three sub-groups working on improving data transfer and the groups are:

  1. Retail Agent (RA) Interfaces: Focuses on E&S Carrier supplemental applications to streamline nonstandard data requirements and move the industry to utilize ACORD standards and applications as much as possible.
  2. General Agent (GA) Interfaces: Concentrates on data transmission streams to/from RA systems to/from GA systems with emphasis on automating the flow of data.
  3. General Agent (GA) Websites: Developing a roadmap of recommendations for GA website capabilities

The Working Group is looking for additional volunteers and people can volunteer at http://teams.acord.org

Demonstrations

The General Agent Interface subgroup of the Retail Agent - E&S Working Group is in the process of demonstrating technologies that enable the import of data from retail agent systems to general agent/broker systems. Four firms demonstrated initial projects in June 2009 at a company vendor forum and following the meeting webinars were scheduled to offer the demonstrations to others. A list of vendors and links to the webinars is available in the Demonstrations section.

Automation Conference

NAPSLO will sponsor the keynote address at the 2013 AAMGA Automation Conference in Scottsdale on March 13-16.  For more information, please visit the Automation Conference webpage.
