NAPSLO, PLUS Working Together to Offer Educational Programs to Each Other's Members NAPSLO and the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) are working together to offer educational opportunities to members of each other's Association. NAPSLO and PLUS have unique missions and membership, yet have a common interest in providing education and information to their members. This new initiative is designed to enhance both organizations’ efforts to meet those goals.
The PLUS Curriculum is a 23-module collection of training material. Each module of the curriculum can be used as a stand-alone resource for professional liability specialists, a state-of-the-art training supplement for employees being introduced to professional liability, or a source of information about professional liability for those who occasionally need a reference source for this special type of coverage. It is also the study material for the RPLU designation.
Professionals who have attained the RPLU designation do not have to take the two electives courses required to attain the Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) designation. The ASLI designation, developed by the Insurance Institute of America and the Derek Hughes/NAPSLO Educational Foundation, is comprised of two courses on surplus lines (ASLI 163 & 164) and two electives selected from a list of approved courses.
Under the joint agreement, NAPSLO’s member companies and their employees can order curriculum modules at special discounts for each individual module or for the complete 23-module set. To take advantage of this opportunity, visit the PLUS website for information about the PLUS curriculum. Additionally, any employee of a NAPSLO member company who orders a curriculum module will receive a complimentary membership for the remainder of the year.
NAPSLO member companies are also eligible to receive a PLUS membership which includes monthly issues of the PLUS Journal, discounted fees for PLUS events, products and RPLU exams, and access to the website, the on-line member directory, PLUS industry library and Career HQ. All employees of NAPSLO member companies may sign up for PLUS membership at a special introductory rate for the remainder of 2009.
The 2009 PLUS Annual International Conference, being held November 11-13 in Chicago, features cutting-edge educational sessions led by industry experts, exciting keynote and general sessions, and premier networking opportunities. The Conference draws 2,000 attendees from all 50 states and several other countries. NAPSLO member companies’ employees can receive discounted member rates for the event by utilizing this registration form.
NAPSLO and PLUS, through PLUS’ chapter events, will begin to co-host educational opportunities addressing surplus lines issues related to professional liability. PLUS Chapters are listed below with primary cities:

One of NAPSLO’s most critical missions includes identifying and communicating to regulators, other segments of the insurance industry, the media and the public the vital role surplus lines plays in the insurance industry. PLUS will soon begin sharing NAPSLO’s legislative news with its members.
