Technology Update

 

Automation Conference to Feature Vendor, Carrier Panels, Timely Sessions

 

Registration is underway for the AAMGA Automation Conference, set for March 13-16 at the Orlando World Center Marriott, and the 2010 conference will feature panels on future directions of vendors and carriers regarding technology, and sessions on security, innovations, business intelligence, and premium payment options. In additions the annual vendor forum and an update on the E&S Joint Working Group will be featured.

 

The conference is open to NAPSLO members and online and paper registration materials are available on the AAMGA website.

 

The Keynote Address, sponsored by NAPSLO, will be The Changing Service-Enabled Landscape - Technology Innovations for the Insurance Industry, presented by Dr. James Senn of Georgia State University. The program will address innovative advances in information technology that are a key resource for shaping services and their delivery, for redefining relations with existing customers, and for reaching and serving new customers.

 

The Excess & Surplus Lines Joint Working Group update will review the collaboration between key industry associations to further workflow automation and the electronic exchange of data utilizing recognized standards throughout the E&S transaction food chain.

 

In addition to the main programs there will be a series of sessions for attendees to choose from, including: Disaster Recovery and the GA Office; Business Intelligence, the Coming of Age; Technology on the Horizon; and Collecting Premiums (using electronic Bill Presentment, integrated telephone payments (IVR), credit/debit cards and eCheck payment acceptance).

 

Carl Herberger, who presented at the 2009 conference, will speak on security concerns in The Perils of Human Nature: Social Engineering War Stories.

 

There will also be the E&S Carrier/Lloyd’s Panel to discuss the directions markets are headed with technology Presenting will be representatives from the following companies: Bell & Clements, Nautilus Insurance Group, Lloyd’s, Northland Insurance Companies, Markel Companies, Scottsdale Insurance Company, Maxum Specialty Insurance Group and Western World Insurance Group.

 

A vendor panel, featuring representatives from leading solutions providers - including Appulate, ADTS, Epic Premier and Vertafore – will discuss key topics including policy issuance solutions, their plans for interface capability, use of the XML standard, and use of web services to call carrier and other systems.

 

The final session will be a moderated open question and answer forum. It will not only discuss an overview of the learning experience from the conference but will also discuss any relevant industry topics
